Effective Plantar Wart Treatment with Swift® Technology

Plantar warts are difficult to treat and traditional methods, such as cryotherapy, are often painful and require multiple sessions. In complex cases, these options may not even be effective. The Swift® device uses state-of-the-art technology to deliver precise, highly controlled microwave energy into the problem area of the skin. This works to stimulate the patient’s body into a healing response and treat plantar warts at their source. The Swift procedure is a quick, clean, and non-invasive option with little or no recovery time.

  • Some symptoms of plantar warts include:

Rough, Grainy Growths: Plantar warts often appear as small, rough, and grainy growths on the soles of the feet, particularly on the weight-bearing areas like the heel or ball of the foot.

Hard, Thickened Skin: The wart may be surrounded by hardened, thickened skin, which can resemble a callus where the wart has grown inward.

Black Pinpoints: Often called wart seeds, these are actually small, clotted blood vessels that can appear as black dots in the center of the wart.

Pain or Tenderness: Plantar warts can cause pain or tenderness when walking or standing, especially if they are located on pressure points of the foot.

Discomfort: General discomfort in the affected area may affect daily activities such as walking or exercising.

  • Warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Like any virus, warts are spread through contact. The virus enters the skin on the bottom of the foot through a small opening or pore. Walking barefoot on surfaces where the virus is present is usually how the wart is contracted. The virus thrives in warm and moist environments, making locker rooms and swimming pools a common source of infection. It can take as long as six months to develop a wart after the skin has come into contact with the virus, making it difficult to identify the source of the infection.

Ace Feet Swift® Wart Treatment

Dr. Thompson uses Swift Therapy, the newest and most effective treatment for plantar warts. Swift uses microwave energy to heat up the underside of the wart, at the root of the infection. This allows the body’s immune system to identify and attack the virus from the inside out.

Older methods of treating a wart, like applying acids or freezing with liquid nitrogen, work by damaging the outer layer of skin. They burn or freeze whatever skin they touch, both healthy and warty skin. Layer by layer of skin is burned or frozen until the entire wart is gone. For deeper or older warts, this means several repeated treatments and damage to healthy surrounding skin. Unfortunately, the virus can proliferate between treatments, making the entire process slow, and even ineffective.
